August 20, 2018—Pittsburgh, PA— The Education Partnership partnered with Shults Ford, 100.7 Star, and Standard Bank for the fourth time for Bazzy and Bubba’s Backpack Brigade and the results were incredible! The drive collected 2,827 backpacks, plus another pallet of assorted school supplies. The approximate value of the entire event was $91,582.
The morning started bright and early as the Bubba Show was broadcasted live from the parking lot of Shults Ford, Wexford. The donations came pouring in and by 10:30 am we surpassed our goal of collecting 1,250 backpacks. The entire day, members of the community stopped by and made a donation and enjoyed coffee, smoothies, and pizza provided by Richard Bazzy and Shults Ford.
Executive Director of The Education Partnership, Josh Whiteside states, “It is nothing short of inspiring to see the community rally around such a meaningful, impactful, and FUN event. All day long we met people from companies of all sizes who felt connected to our mission, which will help tremendously in advancing the mission of The Education Partnership.”
The Education Partnership will distribute the backpacks and school supplies to local students for this coming school year. Overall, The Education Partnership will provide school supplies to 45,000 students in the area, giving them the tools to have a successful year. Partnerships with Shults Ford and 100.7 Star make this all possible.
If you missed the Bazzy and Bubba Backpack Brigade, you can still make a monetary donation at Giant Eagle and Market District at checkout through September 5. All donations go back to The Education Partnership.
