Get Ready for the Seventh Annual TEPPIES Awards

The seventh annual Teacher Appreciation Awards, aka the TEPPIES, is almost here!

If you’re not familiar with the TEPPIES, it’s an awards ceremony hosted by The Education Partnership to celebrate the incredible impact educators in the greater Pittsburgh area have on their students’ lives. And who better to honor them than the very community they inspire every day?

Voting is now open, and this year’s finalists are truly remarkable. Congratulations to everyone selected! Take a look at the finalists across each category below: 

Rookie Teacher of the Year- An educator who is in their first year of teaching

  • Elise Stewart, Frazier High School  
  • Lauren Ferragonio, Sto-Rox Jr/Sr High School 
  • Andrew Banks, Manchester Academic Charter School 

Pre-K Teacher of the Year – An educator who works with early childhood and Pre-K levels

  • Valrose Motley-Barnes, Pittsburgh Dilworth PreK-5 
  • Amanda Olack, Pittsburgh Linden K-5 
  • Keena Butler, Pittsburgh Lincoln PreK-5 

Elementary Teacher of the Year– An educator who works in grades K to 5

  • Kelly Binning, Pittsburgh West Liberty PreK-5
  • Kristi Rodriguez, Pittsburgh King PreK-8 
  • Moira Folan, Bellevue Elementary School 

Middle School Teacher of the Year– An educator who works in grades 6 to 8

  • Maria Frasier, New Horizon School 
  • Lisa Fevola, Pittsburgh CAPA 6-12 
  • Krista Berger, New Brighton Middle School 

High School Teacher of the Year– An educator who works in grades 9 to 12

  • Ellen Eyth, South Allegheny Middle/High School 
  • Kaitlyn Emes, Aliquippa Junior/Senior High 
  • Shyanne Rippole, Sto-Rox Jr/Sr High School 

Principal of the Year – A principal, vice principal, or other leadership position in a TEP partner school

  • Robert Hall, Dr. Cleveland Steward Jr. Elem. School 
  • Lisa Mumau, Sto-Rox Lower Elementary 
  • Vanessa Boyd, Broad Street Elementary School 

Outstanding Support Staff of the Year- Support staff, non-instructional staff, or any school employee who doesn’t fit into one of the other categories

  • Emily Fiore, Pittsburgh Langley K-8 
  • Laryce Anderson, Pittsburgh Linden K-5 
  • Sadie Sabo, Washington Jr Sr High
