Our Newest STEAM Possible Pack Series: Cai & Kate!

A Familiar Face Has Partnered With The Education Partnership!

If you work with young learners, you may already recognize these two! The Education Partnership is thrilled to announce our partnership with Cai & Kate, and together we have created a series of fun and interactive STEAM Possible Packs designed to bring their lessons to life in pre-k classrooms.

An Introduction to Cai & Kate

Created by AHN and The Chill Project, Cai & Kate are a dynamic duo made up of Licensed Professional Therapist Kate and her scaly puppet pal Cai. Together, they help young children through social emotional learning by managing big emotions and developing their Chill Skills®. Their following has grown, amassing over 2 million views on YouTube, and have become a beloved presence right here in the greater Pittsburgh community.

The Importance of Social Emotional Learning

According to the National Association for the Education of Young Children, children who are mentally healthy tend to be happier, show greater motivation to learn, and demonstrate higher academic performance. On the other hand, children who struggle emotionally are more likely to have difficulty following directions, experience low self-esteem, and fall behind academically.

This need has become even more pressing in recent years. Many preschool-aged children experienced emotional isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic, and educators play a critical role in helping them reach healthy emotional growth milestones. Now more than ever, giving young students the tools to grow into their best selves is one of the most important things a teacher can do.

What Comes in the STEAM Possible Packs?

The Cai & Kate team worked closely with us at The Education Partnership to create three lesson packs for pre-k classrooms, each built around the first three episodes of the Cai & Kate YouTube series.

Lessons center around concepts like:

  • Interpreting body language
  • Recognizing and coping with sadness
  • Understanding intensity of emotions (big vs. small feelings)
  • The impact anger can have on their day-to-day lives and relationships
