Get ready to blow out the candles and celebrate TEP’s 15th Birthday at TEP’s 3rd Annual Teacher Summer Camp!  A FREE day-long opportunity for TEP partner school educators to give back to the community, network with peers, shop for extra incentives, and participate in professional development.

The TEP Summer Camp Birthday Bash runs from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM and lets you choose your perfect party date! It’s a day jam-packed with activities guaranteed to make you smile:

  • Volunteering: Give back to the community and feel good doing it! It’s the perfect warm-up for a day of celebration.
  • Festive Birthday Feast: Dig into a delicious lunch with a birthday twist! We’ve got treats and eats to fuel your fun.
  • Shop ’til You Drop (Almost): Stock up on goodies at the Creative Corner. Find some amazing incentives to kick off the new school year with a bang!

Social-Emotional Learning Through Making and Building, Emily Sanders, Assistant Superintendent, Beaver Area School District; Dr. Shelly Bucci, 2nd Grade Teacher, New Castle Area School District

Join Matt’s Maker Space educators in exploring how making and building can help students develop essential skills like social-emotional well-being, empathy, communication, and collaboration through creative play. Educators will learn more about CMU’s Project Baseplate partnership with Play Included and how schools implement Brick Clubs. Explore how hands-on maker activities can enhance teaching and learning and boost student engagement and creativity!

Solutions-Based Climate Change Education, Mark Reardon, Director of Education, Communitopia

An Integrated Approach to Climate Change Education: Educators will gain confidence in teaching about climate change and sustainability by incorporating age-appropriate and solution-centered frameworks into their curriculum. Emphasis will be placed on creating multi-dimensional lessons that align with the newly adopted PA STEELS standards.

Creative Movement in the Classroom, Brittany Tague, Arts in Education Manager, Attack Theatre; Michele de la Reza, Co-Founder and Acting Artistic/Executive Director, Attack Theatre

Attack Theatre will provide an interactive and exploratory professional development session that harnesses the power of creative movement and offers kinesthetic learning strategies to develop critical thinking, encourage collaboration, strengthen communication, and nurture creativity across the curriculum. This workshop is suitable for educators at all levels. Please dress comfortably and be prepared to explore creative movement in the classroom with Attack Theatre’s Arts in Education Manager Brittany Tague and Artistic Executive Director Michele de la Reza. The session aims to equip educators with the practical skills to incorporate creative play and movement that support social-emotional learning, classroom structures, and routines and foster positive student behaviors and emotions.

Implementing Coding and Building with Micro:Bits for Middle and High School Classrooms, James Jenkins, STEAM Hub Program Manager, The Education Partnership

Learn how to program using the Micro:Bit Inventors kit. With a little creativity and simple programming logic, educators will get hands-on experience with how to use the  MicroBit.  Experience a quick creative build to integrate the Micro:Bit with basic materials.
